I am also using the folder browsing interface. What I am seeing is that the zoom level can get “stuck” if you hit the spacebar or Z key too early (so there’s a bug). If I wait a few seconds after going to the image and then hitting the Z key, it seems to zoom properly.

The app should zoom to 100% in that case. It depends a little bit on your camera and how it makes embedded JPEGs. The app should start with the embedded JPEG, and then replace it with the RAW once it loads. If you zoom to 100% before the RAW loads, then it might zoom to the size of the embedded rather the RAW. You might need to wait a few seconds until the RAW loads before hitting the space bar. Which camera are you using?

Yes, RAW Power supports referenced files in Photos. It also supports just files in the file system (Finder folders)
– I’d like to continue adding to that same library, and all newly added photos will also be referenced, residing on an external drive. Still possible, right?

No, there isn’t an easy way to tell them apart. Photo marks Aperture images as “externally edited” – it’s technically possible for the app to tell the difference, but not efficiently.
– Finally, does RawPower have any support for videos (at least so that videos can be displayed/played back within RawPower, similar to what Photos tries to do)?
Yes, videos are supported in RAW Power. You can rate and flag them too.

There are two problems – the app has a bug and is incorrectly reporting the bit depth. The second problem (which partly causes the first problem) is that Apple’s code doesn’t report the bit depth. There will be a fix in the next release to report “16” which is what Preview would report. The sensor resolution of the file may be 12 bits, but the data in the file is usually (maybe always) stored in 16 bits because it’s much easier for computers to work with multiples of 8 bits. Sorry about the bug.

Yes, this can be a bit confusing. RAW Processing is always “on,” using the default values.
The default values are not the same for every image. They come from Apple’s analysis of the camera and the image. Apple will adjust the black point, noise, and other settings as part of their attempt to make the image look good. If you want to change what they have done, you would move the sliders in RAW Processing. If you want to see the default decode, then you can uncheck the box.
Do you think it’s the number of files that are being sent? If you send, say 20 files does it always work?

I don’t plan to have layers in the photoshop sense of the term. However, I do plan to create a selective adjustment feature (e.g., brushing) in the future.
In Batch, pick Export. Then in the Export interface, there is a “Format” pop up. Pick Original. You can also do the same in Edit, but one image at a time.
Culling should be pretty straightforward. I suggest using flag or reject for images that you don’t want any more. Both can be done with gestures on the image (swipe up or down). That information will sync over iCloud Photos. If you are using Files, then you can’t sync the information.
There is no feature in the app to convert an image into a DNG. If you just want to export the original, then use the Export feature and pick Original from the first popup. You can choose Photos as the destination.
The Finder isn’t rendering those thumbnails. Applications can provide a custom thumbnail for a document, and some do. If there is no custom thumbnail, the Finder will then attempt to make its own (that happens sometimes for images like TIFFs that usually don’t have an embedded thumbnail). If that can’t be done, the Finder draws a generic icon. For example, I have several EPS files that have just a generic icon. If I try to open them in Preview, it sits for a very long time attempting to render them for display. Same with SVG. Some apps support them (and set custom icons), but the OS in general does not.
As far as whether the app should support them, I guess it depends on what you mean by “support” – are you asking about being able to edit them? That’s not something I would create – it would need an entire vector drawing system. Or perhaps, just display and rating / flag / filtering? Then, that is more possible, but would be a considerable effort. PDF is possible, since the OS has support for that, but that also leads to a question of multiple pages. Are you asking for the ability to view multiple pages, annotate and stuff like that (Preview can do that, currently)
The app supports image file formats, not vector file formats. It also doesn’t support document formats from other apps (e.g, Pixelmator files and such). It is that way because RAW Power uses Apple’s image reading libraries and in general, their libraries do not support those formats. Sorry.
Hi, the way custom size works, it always respects the aspect ratio – that’s why there aren’t two boxes. For example, if you have an image that is 4000 x 3000, and you export it to 1000, then it will make make an image that is 1000 x 750, which is the same aspect ratio. If the image is 3000 x 4000, and you export to 1000, then you will get 750 x 1000. Are you getting a different result?
