ParticipantHello Pito,
First of all I am not an expert on this subject, but might be able to help you get it sorted out. On the other hand you might already know what I am writing here, in that case I am not much of help -;)
The approach you took is a possibility but it needs some understanding of the RGB colour model and how to create different colours in mixing RGB-colours will help a lot. If you search the internet you probably will find some information that will help you about mixing. Look for RGB colour wheel/model. Very often it will lead you to Photoshop explanations, but the principal is the same.I was able to create a blue colour in one blown-out sky (but still a bit “artificial”), using the method of masking the sky. This all done on a jpeg-file,
However I don’t know if you are shooting I RAW or jpeg.
I shoot mostly in RAW, and I discovered that using Nitro, was able to retrieve blue sky with clouds (from blown-out sky) very efficiently and beyond expectations. I hardly managed that in other software.
If you are shooting RAW, I will gladly make some suggestions how I was able to do that (It’s a bit beyond the standard “retrieve highlights”). It was really a surprise to me by choosing the right workflow in Nitro.

ParticipantGreat !
Thanks BenBenB
ParticipantHi Nik,
I did another test, still a bit confused:
When I create a smart Album, using Nitro with the Photo’s-library, It will create also a smart album in Photo’s, showing up in the Nitro folder (with series of letters and the name). However the photo’s selected and visible in Nitro don’t show up in Apple Photo’s. The smart-album stays empty in Apple Photo’s
Actually I think this is fine to me, as it enables me to delete the smart album in Nitro, without loosing the photo’s in the photo’s-library. Not sure whether it is intended though.BenB
ParticipantGreat, thanks Nik,
I missed that one also !
Lots of “hidden” functions in Nitro -;)Ben
BenB
ParticipantI second that Pito. Good idea !
BenB
ParticipantThanks Nik for the explanation.
I was aware of the smart album behavior in Apple Photo’s (deleting), but then again removing photo’s in Nitro smart album did not remove them in Apple Photo’s (which is great)
I will give it another try with the insights you gave me.

ParticipantWould be great if sending directly to another application is supported.
Sorry for troubling you, discovered it can be done with using Menu->Image->Edith with external app. Got stuck in old habits bij right clicking ☺️

ParticipantBut in RawPower, when using a non-system library, you can in edit mode via extension start editing in RP. So I assume it will work the same way ?

ParticipantHello Nik,
Thanks for responding. You must be very busy right now.
Preferabele on (batch) saving or (batch) export. So I guess in the regular (browse) view. But would be fine in the Exiftool if that is more simple to achieve.
(You probably know Affinity photo, I like te way the managed this, chose the tab mtd make the changes and save. You can import a save xml-files to apply depending for the applicable purposes).BenB
ParticipantThanks NIK, I just sent you some pictures.
Still possible I don’t quite understand the algoritme 🙃, But curious and willing to learn.(By the way the notification of this forum doesn’t seem to work)

ParticipantThanks Nik for the quick follow-up.
Based on your video tutorial “Auto Enhance in Raw Power 3 for Mac”, I had the impression that this was “always” the case. Nevertheless it seemed a bit strange to me that Raw-files wit CR2 and DNG files triggered the RAW-processing several times and my RW2-files never, even when parts of the image was severely under or over exposed. At the same time it triggers the relevant Tone, Curves, Enhance etc. so it’s ok with me. I just got curious.Best Regards

ParticipantUpdate,
I think I already figured it out Nik. Discovered how the “saturation” is increased or decreased. Simple by dragging towards the edge of the color wheel, right ?BenB
ParticipantYep, they still don’t quite understand how to work with extensions for Apple 😁.

ParticipantHi Nik,
Thanks fort your swift response. I can understand you are quite busy, no problem.
I have some specific question, perhaps you can elaborate a bit -;), as there is no description in the manual yet.
1. You mention Highlights Shadows and Midtones. The UI mentions Highlights, Shadows and “Overall”. I assume overall is then the “Midtones” ?
2. I see the color-wheel to pick colours for Highlights, Shadows and “Overall” separately, that’s fine. However I do not see a saturation/intensity slider (as there are in Lightroom and other products), so how can I manipulate the intensity (or saturation) of the chosen colour’s for shadows and Highlights separately ? The luminance slider has som effect but not much (logically). Thanks for your time
Ben

ParticipantThanks Nik.
By the way, it appears to me that there is one exception to the “rule” that other app’s will use the jpeg (or tiff) after editing with RawPower ?. Affinity Photo will always pick-up the un-edited raw-file in Apple Photo’s, using their extension “edit in Affinity Photo” , at least that is my experience. (but then: Affinity always does, so it doesn’t even remember its own edits made earlier 😞). -
