Similar problem with .RW2 files. However sometimes it’s fine, sometimes it’s not. Not with the same picture but with the same filetype.
Have been fiddling with the automatic settings when opening a RAW file. Sometimes it’s fine sometimes not, haven’t found a permanent solution though to get it always right when opening a file. Even after edits, it turns wrong again when re-opening the edited file.
Have been away for a while, due to personal situation, so perhaps I have to read instruction’s again -;)., or find the specific topic in the forum.BenBParticipantThanks Nik,
Looks great. If that comes available I don’t need any additional software anymore !BenBParticipantHai Nik,
You are quite right, that’s why I wrote “I need to rethink my workflow” -;)
Valuable extra info about the xmp-data, I already wondered (by trial and error)…. So I have found a work around with sending at least an edited Image to Affinity photo including the Nitro edits as jpeg or .tiff and perform some extra actions (like changing/adding some and iptc-data and object removal en some other things. After editing I can have this image saved back (preference setting in Affinity) to the “original” Nitro-folder. So that is fine. After all I don’t need those actions all the time luckily.
Thanks for your feed back.- This reply was modified 7 months, 1 week ago by BenB.
BenBParticipantThanks for the explanation.
I think it’s mostly the extra step to take. I am so used to “sent to” or “open in” that I almost forgot the possibility for an extra step. (I can also assign a folder which automatically sends new pictures to another app). However I mostly use the other apps for object-removal, dehaze- and noise-reduction and add meta-and ipct-data. So would prefer to do that directly, and have the same picture available in the same folder as it was. So that I don’t have to allow another folder for Nitro to see that picture easily in browse-mode with the extra info and avoiding 2 Versions of that picture, needing to rename or tag them to know the difference.
Need to rethink my workflow -;).BenBParticipantTypo In the Title, but I cannot change that?
“iAd” must be iPadOS”
Sorry.
BenBParticipantAnd here is a second happy user.
I already used a external usb-c ssd for storage of my photo’s as well at home and when I am on route. So I, like John, edit my photo’s when I am on a trip and use my iMac when I am back home. I don’t use iCloud photo’s so this is really a blessing. So now I am able to carry over all my Nitro edits back and forward between my iPad air m1 and my iMac. This is really fantastic. Love the new iPad version and it’s interface. It’s so look alike and with almost the same functionality as far as I can tell right now. Great job Nik !BenBParticipantThanks Nik,
Perhaps in the future then..BenBParticipantThough my eyes aren’t in their best condition anymore, I have no problem at all with the outlining of the thumbnails. I have set the Appearance to Dark-mode and the Viewer background to 0.20. This gives me plenty of contrast and a crisp blue line around the thumbnails. When I change the Appearance and viewer background to pure white, it gets a bit more difficult to see where you are in the thumbnails (But I don’t like that setting at all anyway). However when setting the Appearance to Dark-mode and the viewer background to pure white to 1 It is still very convenient to follow were you are with the thumbnails
Also moving forward and backward through the thumbnails, using the arrow keys, serves me very well. If I want to keep an overview I use to swipe through the thumbnails in stead of using the arrow keys, or in practice use both (arrow and swiping).
In N-up mode it works very convenient as it is now.So as the wildrover writes. “It is not easy to please everyone”. Playing a bit with the settings did it for me. I have and use different apps, and they all have their specifics when it comes to the UI-view and sizes of text for instance.
Nitro serves me very well in this regard. (ha, and in lot of other things too -;)
Ben
BenBParticipantGreat !
Thanks.BenBParticipantThanks again Nik for this explanation.
I think I got it now :-).
It’s fine as it is.
BenBenBParticipantBump:
Is it ment to be that a Smart album with pictures in Nitro doesn’t show up with the pictures involved in Photo’s? As mentioned above the smart album shows in Photo’s (with a bit of an “encrypted” but recognisable name) in the “Nitro” section but the pictures are not shown. So the album stays empty in Photo’s
BenBParticipantActually I found “recovery” as a slider even for a Jpeg.
Yes but that is not the “Recover Highlights” Nik is talking about. That is only available for RAW pictures in the AI section (first icon beneath the histogram)
The recovery as you mentioned works as follows (Quote from the RawPower help function) this slider works like a “selective exposure”. Only the brightest pixels are affected, but unlike highlights, it adjust the brightness just like exposure. Sometimes you will get better results with Recovery and other times Highlights will work better.
BenBParticipantThanks Nik,
That helps.BenBParticipantThis might be of use : https://www.color-meanings.com/rgb-color-model/
