Thanks, Michael. But my priority is to be able to reorganize the images into other folders while still editing, not so much labelling, tagging or sorting. For example, manually dragging images of a particular person from a day’s shoot into their own folder, without having to rename the images or return to the finder and do it there. As it is, the Nitro Photo library window doesn’t offer much in the way of revising the contents beyond adding or deleting or renaming. I understand Nitro isn’t a full DAM, but being able to create a new folder of a selection of RAWs while still editing, and have it separate in the library, is a helpful workflow.

Thanks, Nik. I wasn’t referring to the app itself knowing what’s done or anything AI. Just that if I had a selection of raws I wanted to move from the folder into a new one. In my case, in a shoot of 600 images I don’t edit them from 1 to 600. I generally visually scan among them for the ones I want to make presentable first, which enables me to have 20 presentable images to send in an hour rather than 8 hours later. Just a way of regrouping what is in the library into folders that make sense, either by location, or similar exposures (such as moving all the dark raws that need brightening into one folder and the ones that need lowering the exposure in a different folder. Or one folder has the raws from the 600 I want to get 90% done first, another folder might have ones that I’ll probably delete but not ready to trash them. That sort of thing. Organizing manually by progress or however I want, nothing AI. Currently I’ve been returning to the Finder, creating new bus folders and moving raws and sidecars around manually to get this, which is a sludgy way to accomplish it.

    Thanks 🙂

Thanks, Nik. The blue outline looks like the outline of a thumbnail when it is selected, but it happens in edit mode with the large image viewed. When the blue outline appears on that image view, advancing to the next image with arrow keys stops. If you show the thumbnails across the bottom, you can manually go to the next one IIRC, but cannot move in either direction with the arrow keys. One has to leave edit mode, double click on the image to be taken to the layout that shows the whole folder’s thumbnails and manually click on another image. Sometimes this will open without the blue outline, sometimes this image has it also. A few times doing this clears it so that the image being worked on in edit mode does not have the outline, and it continues working until it happens again, sometimes 3 sometimes 23 images later.
