ParticipantI am trying to get keywords into digikam and it successfully sees the star rating from Nitro, but keywords are absent.
I don’t see assigned keywords in the xmp file. Star rating is written but not keywords.<?xpacket begin=”” id=”W5M0MpCehiHzreSzNTczkc9d”?>

Nik BhattKeymasterThat’s certainly odd. The images are stored in the Finder and you add a keyword in Nitro but it’s not saved?
Is the XMP data you put in this post from the Nitro XMP sidecar file or is it from digikam or something else? Please try the following:
1. Open Nitro
2. Select a file that doesn’t have an XMP sidecar
3. Rate and add a keyword
4. Go to the next image to make sure it’s written out
5. Open the XMP sidecar in TextEdit or something – is the keyword present?May 28, 2026 at 1:38 pm #147807Christopher Moss
ParticipantMy Nitro-created .xmp files contain keywords at the end in this format, for example:
<rdf:Bag>
<rdf:li>ISO 50</rdf:li>
<rdf:li>Kodak HC-110</rdf:li>
<rdf:li>Rolleiflex 2.8GX</rdf:li>
<rdf:li>Valoi Easy120/D850 scan</rdf:li>
<rdf:li>XP2</rdf:li>
</rdf:Bag>May 28, 2026 at 2:53 pm #147808Stewart Logie
ParticipantI did some further experimentation. One step that I did not mention was that I had imported into Nitro a keyword list in txt format that had been exported by digikam. Its content and hierarchy look fine in Nitro. I now notice that when I attached keywords with that list selected they did not stick, even when I went to another image and came back. Closing Nitro and reopening with that imported txt file seemed to cause the keywords to stick. They now appear in the xmp sidecar file.
Thanks, Stewart

ParticipantAre your xmp files from Nitro in standard format (file name.xmp) or what I normally see (file name.normal extension.xmp. Ie filename.dng.xmp)? If the latter, none of my other software will read them at all.

Nik BhattKeymasterHe wrote earlier that the rating was seen, so the XMP file was readable by his other app.
