Boost is already part of Auto Enhance. When an image is overexposed, then it adjusts Boost to recover highlights better. Setting the default strength to 0.5 for all images would not be desirable in many cases. Tone Map is not currently employed in Auto Enhance, but it’s a good idea. I will see what would make sense to do. Andy Hutchinson seems to have more experience with Adobe’s RAW controls, than the advanced ones in Nitro that are optimized for Apple’s decoder. Frankly, many of his criticisms were simply baffling.

It’s a bug in the app. It’s the app’s job to move the box out of the way when the keyboard appears. I’ll make sure it gets fixed. Thanks for reporting it.

I’ll put that on the list for an upcoming release. Don’t forget that there is Cmd-plus and Cmd-minus as well to zoom.

Yes, it’s on my list to fix. Sorry about that. The problem is that it’s not very reproducible. It happens and then it stops happening as I’m trying to figure it out! You might try moving the windows (or resizing them) and then closing them. That might work around the problem.

I will try to add the scroll wheel support for the filmstrip in an upcoming release.

I don’t preserve certain settings on purpose because they have a tendency to confuse less experienced (or less frequent) users. For example, filters are discarded when you restart the app. That’s because people sometimes filter their images, forget and then wonder “where did all the images go?”. This is very understandable, especially if they aren’t using the app every day. With Show Subfolders, it’s similar. It is a common behavior for people, when faced with an app doing something they don’t want, to quit and reopen hoping the “bug” goes away, even though there is no bug. So, if they have turned on subfolders and pick something large, like their hard disk or a network share, then the app will spin for a while. Quitting and reopening will just start over again, which is very frustrating.

So, the short answer is maybe. I figure that avoiding this problem for inexperienced users is a good trade off vs. the annoyance of having to pick the button each time to turn it back on.

in reply to: Support for Lumix G9ii RAW files #133114

The G9 II will be supported in the next update of Nitro. The problem was that the G9 II and the GH6 use a new format for storing the camera data. As usual, Panasonic (like other camera companies) does not document the format or help 3rd parties decode them. It takes time to reverse engineer the format and add support.

Fortunately, I am not constrained by Apple’s camera release schedule because I have the ability to extend Apple’s RAW decoder (which is unique to Nitro and RAW Power).

You might try a quick Auto Levels / Auto Curves on the image to see if it improves the appearance. I suggest the Auto Black button (the first one).

in reply to: Nitro folder has duplicate exported folder #133051

Do both folders contain images? On launch the app checks to see if any of these are missing and if so, it creates them. Sounds like there is a bug in that logic.

I suggest quitting Nitro, going into Photos and combining the contents. Then, remove one of them. Then, reopen Nitro and it should be fine.

It’s very hard to tell what is going on based on your description. Please email support@gentlemencoders.com so I can help you. The forum isn’t the best “forum” for bugs like this. It’s more for discussion and general questions.

Yes, I would like to add stacking outside of the Photo Library. There are some complexities that are not obvious at first blush (such as deletion, unstacking, default behaviors and the like).

I posted a basic roadmap today on the website: https://www.gentlemencoders.com/nitro-roadmap/index.html

It provides idea of what I plan to do, without going into lots of detail, or promising specific dates.
