Thanks. So it depends all on the hard disk? Can the formatting of the hard drive also have an effect?
I don’t know if it’s any helpful but the hard drive I use is a SanDisk Extreme 500 240GB formatted in exfat (just for info).
billy-gsParticipantI just found the “restore edits” option in the menu. It seems to work now.
Why doesn’t raw power restore the data automatically when the hard drive is connected?billy-gsParticipantThanks for the tip, nice feature, it’s not really smooth but it work’s. It’s also a bit difficult to use with the pencil.
Can the size of the sliders panel be adjusted to make it larger or wider?
billy-gsParticipantI noticed when I make adjustments in the HSL Panel the picture gets darker. Could that be a bug?
billy-gsParticipantYes I am referring to the straighten slider. The straighten tool works fine. When you slide the slider back the image doesn’t go back to its previous position (least zoom with no black edges). Nevertheless it would be much more convenient if you where be able to rotate the picture directly in the crop tool (rotate the cropped selection).
billy-gsParticipantGood to hear. Will there be any improvements for the straighten tool in the next release? It behaves a little bit choppy or bumpy and it always zooms in too much and doesn’t go back if you turn it the other way. A rotation function in the crop tool instead of the straighten slider would be more useful I would say.
billy-gsParticipantI discovered the “Export Original” function in my other raw editors. This function exports the original raw files and creates an additional xmp file for each. In this xmp files, all ratings, flags and color labels etc. (I think even some adjustments) are stored for each image. So I can import them again into another program and my sorting will be transferred. It would be great if RAW POWER could read or import/export xmp files.
billy-gsParticipantYes you can copy out side of edit mode but not select the adjustments you want to copy. If I am not mistaken you have to be in edit mode to tick the checkboxes.
Thanks for fixing and all your effort.
Raw Power is a very nice app with a lot of potential.
billy-gsParticipantHi,
thanks for the tip with the check-marks and copying adjustments. It would be nice to be able to copy/select/paste adjustments in the normal viewer mode (without always being in edit mode ).
An edit in option in the right klick menu in the viewer mode would be a nice time saver. In general I would say the more you can do right in the viewer mode the better.
With the sharpening I meant more like selective sharpening with being able to select and sharpen different areas of the image. More like masking for the sharpen slider. And maybe some additional sliders to define the mask even more (radius, details etc.).billy-gsParticipantHi,
Then I am writing some suggestions if that’s ok. I am relatively new to RAW POWER and liking it so far. But there are some things that might be improved. For example the LUT menu could use some collapsable folders or the ability to organize (+favorits?) the LUTS in some way. The list is getting very long and unorganized if you have lots of LUTS. Maybe a seperate window with previews could also be an idea for the future. I was missing a purple-green correction for chromatic aberration recently. A dehaze function and (film) grain would be nice to have. The vignette tool could be improved with more shapes and maybe presets. The sharpening tool may benefit from more available options and unsharp masks for more control. Focus blur and tilt-shift would be a bonus. With an “edit in” option there would be the way to send pictures to an external editor. A copy/paste adjustments dialog where you can select just the needed settings (instead of all) would be very handy. And the overall performance and the saving times could be a bit more improved. But maybe its just me, I have an older Mac. OK that’s enough for now 😀 . Sorry for the big pile of suggestions. These are just some ideas.
Many thanks
billy-gsParticipantHi,
Thanks for the reply. Nice to hear that color labels could be a feature some day.
I can imagine that this might not be so easy with the import/export function. Probably the function must be adapted separately for each program. It would be great if you where able to import and export the sorting and ratings from programs like Lightroom, Capture One or Exposure X6. I don’t know if that’s even possible because they all have their own catalog structure (also with color labels 😉 ). Exposure X6 doesn’t use a catalog but I think they save their sorting data in their on file format.
Another nice feature would be a metadata editor of some sort. (Is there a feature request forum for RAW Power? 😀 )
