    Hi,
My understanding is that Raw Power sidecar files are stored in the home folder regardless of where the raw image files are located. This seems like it means that even if my raw images are safe on an external drive, my edits could still be lost in the case of an OS crash requiring reinstallation, etc. If that’s true, is there an easy way to backup the sidecars along with the image files?

Obviously backing up the boot volume would prevent sidecar loss, but if you’re keeping multiple backups of your images you don’t really want to keep multiple boot backups as well.

    Thanks

Sorry, am referring specifically to file browser mode, not photos library.

The app doesn’t have a separate way of backing up sidecars – the expectation is that a normal home folder backup would preserve the files. The number of backups you would make for the sidecars is the same for these as for any document on your disk – meaning, I don’t recommend treating them differently than any other data on your disk.

    Nik,

Thank you for the response and for confirming that. I’m planning to reconfigure my storage/backup/editing system and just want to be sure I completely understand where all the pieces are.

I cannot find the sandbox container mentioned in the v3.1 documentation anywhere (I can see plenty of other containers in library), has the sidecar location or folder name changed in the most recent version or am I being simple?

Finally, it looks like sidecars are stored with the images in Nitro, is that correct?

    Thanks again.

    Steve

The location hasn’t changed. You will find them here: ~/Library/Containers/com.gentlemencoders.RAWPower/Data/Documents

Yes, sidecars are stored next to the originals in Nitro and are XMP format, rather than the proprietary format that RAW Power uses.
