When in the local adjustment, there is a option indicated, next to the brush and erase tab, to use Luma, colours and intensity sliders.
I cannot figure out what they do and how to use them ?
Is this an equivalent to use luminosity masks ? But then how to apply them ?
Thanks for shining a light on those functions.

Any mask can be limited by luminance or color. If you want a basic luminance mask, do this:
    1. Make a new brush mask
    2. Click Fill
    3. Go to the options area (looks like overlapping squares).
    4. Move the luminance sliders.

There is a bug right now where the mask does not live update as you move the sliders. That will be fixed in the next release.

At some point, I may just add a mask that does that in one step, but that’s how you do it now.

    Thanks Nik,
    That helps.

Has there been any update to having a luminosity mask in Nitro as of April 2026? Also, is there a method to revealing clipped highlights and shadows?

    Thanks…gary

Clipped highlights and shadows tool above the histogram in the editing tools.

@Gary: Any mask can be limited by Luminance using the masking options as described above.
To show clipping indicators, click the circles that appear above the histogram. They will be dimmed out if the data is in range.

Thanks Nik, I found the areas described and appreciate how simple the clipping indicators are to use. I am needing to “play” with the luminance mask process a bit to get a handle on that. Any chance of a tutorial video?

    thanks

A masking video is long overdue. However, I’m not happy with how the masking UI turned out, and I plan to completely redo it. So, I have been waiting to make a video until I do that work.
