I have a question about where Nitro gets the GPS information (And other EXIF information) when looking at the Apple Photo Library. I’ve noticed that Nitro includes a lot more EXIF info than what can be found in Photos. For example, with images that have GPS information embedded, Photos will usually display a general location with a pin on the map seen in the Info window. Sometimes it takes quite a while for Photos to find the location. Nitro displays the same map with a pin in its EXIF window, and a very close actual address. Does Nitro just extract more EXIF information, or does it use a different database to find locations than does Photos. This is not a problem, I’m just curious how geo tagging works.

    Thanks,
    Ed

Nitro uses the location from the photo library (if you are using that vs. the Finder). And it uses Apple’s Mapping library to display the pin. I don’t know Photos would be worse at that, but I’ll take the win 🙂

    Thanks for your reply, Nik.
Shortly after I posted my question I found the GPS information I was looking for in Apple Photos. If one displays a single picture in Photos, then scrolls to the bottom of the screen to display the location information, there is a much larger map with the location pin and an approximate address. The address was not shown in the small “Get info” window for the image. It was this information that I saw in the Nitro EXIF information.
