I have just become aware of this extension for Apple Photos. It may help me migrate from an awkward Photos-Lightroom workflow. I work with RAW Fujifilm X100 and Olympus OM-D E-M1. If I buy your current RAW Power app, will I have to pay full price again very soon (?) when 2.0 is available?

I have decided to make 2.0 a free upgrade. I’m not sure that’s sustainable for future releases, but it will be free this time. I’ll update the post to make that clear.

Wow Nik. Just wow. I recently made a comment on an earlier blog post about your road map for features and asked about things like lens correction and other features and today I see this post for the new 2.0 version and I am beyond blown away at just how much this update is to include. I really appreciate the amount of work you are putting into this great piece of software in order to give those of us who use Photos a much more comprehensive editing platform. You are truly a gentleman and a scholar. 🙂

PS I definitely will be sending my e-mail for request to the beta. Christmas has come early indeed.

Great Nik. When are you planning to match iOS to these new 2.0 features? Can’t wait. These are exactly what needed in iPad Pro too!!!!

      Hi Marco,

I’m working on iOS at the same time, and moving a lot of the features from Mac over there (Mac has the priority right now, though). I will post on the blog when I have finalized the feature set for iOS. I can say for sure that all of the adjustments will be on iOS – not sure about the rest of the features. Stay tuned!

I’m not a RAW Power User (yet) but highly interested in finding a piece of software the will replace Aperture – I was using it until I bought the X-T3 which isn’t supported and now switched to C1 which I’m familiar with; but is more clunky and less focused. For me these are the killer Aperture features I would like to see

    1. Seamless integration with Photoshop – I love how you can export a RAW into Photoshop and how it creates a duplicate in the library so that your PSD file can be viewed next to the original RAW file. I can’t replicate it with no other software to this day.

    2. Highlights and Shadows recovery is still unmatched compared to C1 and is miles ahead of LR (yep it still is!)

    3. I’m not sure how RAW powerworks but from the screenshots and previews I’ve seen I’m not sure if you can dial in a particular setting – i.e. I always work in half steps orfull “steps” … to take the most obvious example: I shoot with a particular exposure compensation in mind, and when I import the files I then compensate either 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 etc. I don’t like to waste my time with sliders because dealing in a precise number I have in mind just takes too long. Likewise I want to be able to replicate a particular result and so want to remove too many in betweens. Sure having the option may turn out to be useful but for the most part I don’t bother with +1.38 exposure. I do +1 or +1.5… same with all the other settings like white balance etc. I;d like two be able to dial in directly what I want.

    4. I lofe how easy it was to lift adjustments or metadata and stamp them across a whole bunch of other images. In C1 changing something simple as keywords is really really hard. I’d love to see the Aperture Management / Logic being revived; ratings, colour coding and metadata included

    5. Tethering support would be great and the ability to use an iPad iOS App to then trigger the camera remotely that is tethered to your MacBook Pro … super useful if you are shooting say interiors and you want to walk around and clean up the site and not always walk back.. you can move things around take the photo see how it looks and make adjustments from right across the room on C1 – that’s brilliant!

These would be my top 5… ! keep up the good work!

      Hi Jacob,

Thank you for your list of features. RAW Power has a highlights and shadows function, though it’s not identical to Aperture’s. In RAW Power 2.0, there are new filters called Deepen and Lighten which produce superior results to H&S.
Right now you cannot type in a specific value for an adjustment. However, once you have a value, it’s easy to copy and paste adjustments between images (or create a preset).
