    >> If you search for Keywords in the menus, you will see the menu items.
You’re right. Sorry I missed them.

    >> But the main interface is a top-level item with the Info / Edit / etc.
    Not sure where that is.

    >> Also, I did not mention Smart Folders. I said Smart Albums. And like any smart album in Nitro, it’s Nitro-specific (and smart albums in Photos are Photos-specific).
    You’re right. My mistake.

    >> I’m sorry you find the keyword function hard to understand. It’s feature-rich, and I had to add a new item to the sidebar to add all of the functionality.
I don’t see what item in the sidebar you mean.

    >> That’s why I spent hours writing documentation and making videos.
And I appreciate that. I can see from the functionality that it took a lot of work. The bifurcation between apple native albums and the file system must cause you untold headaches both explaining and in the code.

    >> I guess I could have put in an arrow pointing to the keyword button in the right toolbar.
I don’t see that button you are refferring to.

“The release notes discuss keywords in the photo library, as does the video and the user manual. So, the new release does add functionality for the photo library. Please let me know how my descriptions could be better.

As far as showing keywords in Info, the info panel only shows keywords if the image has them. As a rule, I avoid showing blank lines in the metadata area. You can set keywords in Photos, and in Nitro (as mentioned in the video etc), you can view, filter, and make smart albums.

If you have a situation where an image in the Photo library has keywords and Nitro does not show them, please let me know.”

I think one way would be to have a table showing what works in the default macos Photos library and what works in the file system.

I watched the video but some things were hard to follow without actually trying to software (that’s not a critique just a fact of life.) When I launched the app I searched for the word keywords in the app UI and could not find it. Under metadata I found “tags” and I was immediately confused but assumed they would be different from keywords. Beyond that I could not find it.

You mentioned AI keywords. I still hvae no idea but I believe they only work with Filesystem libraries.

You mentioned smartfolders but smartfolders from Mac’s default photo lubrary don’t work as far as I know in Nitro.

I agree that you have implemented a lot of functionality. Kudos for that. But a feature should not require a documentation, a video, and emails to undertstand how to use it.

Any idea when your next release is coming? (With or without the above request?)

Good point. In my mind it’s kind of a flag and has a distinct icon. why not add it to the flag gesture?

    Thanks: Understand.

Now a request about tooltips: it would be nice if every unlabeled icon had a tooltip.

    Let me describe my understanding.

With the checkbox off, as if I did the edits by hand one after the other and just accumulate.

With it on, it is as if I started with the unedited image and applied the preset. So not only does the reset replace other presets that were previously applied, it replaces all edits to the image up to that point.

    Yes?

so presets don’t “stack”. If I pick preset 1 and then preset 2, it’s the same as if I just pick preset 2. Correct?

Sorry to say but I find scrolling surprises in nitro far more often than photos, darkroom and others. I will try and reproduce for you.

    Further experiment:

image x is RAW, and does not display in Photos.app

in nitro, it does display because I have “preview” option turned on

in nitro, I actually load it into the editor but don’t edit

in photos it still does not display

in nitro I now do recover highlights

    in photos it does display.

Is this expected? It’s a little surprising to me.

Is there any visual way to see that a raw image has been decoded?

When will nitro “process” the image? Just viewing it? Any edit?

I strongly +1 the proposal. Many other apps allow me to use the scroll wheel to zoom with a modifier, whether it be cmd or opt. At that moment I’ve been interacting efficiently with my hand on the mouse and moving it to keyboard interrupt this.

I loved that feature in Aperture too! +1
