ParticipantHi
Can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.
If I add a gradient mask (or brush mask) then for example add an s curve using the curve’s dialogue, then check the blue tick and click sliders icon to do ‘normal’ edits, if I do anything with curves or levels, my image goes very bright and histogram shows data mainly on the left. What am I missing?
My camera is a Panasonic s5d.
Thanks

ParticipantThat sounds a lot like an issue that I reported on macOS and I think the problem was related to something on Apple’s end, and a workaround was to disable standard raw processing in the Nitro settings. I don’t know if that’s something you can also do on iPad but might be worth a shot.

ParticipantOk. It didn’t work. I relaunched the app and deleted the associated xmp file just in case. No luck.
It’s a weird issue because I have some images I did yesterday from the same batch and I managed to add masks with no issues.
I’ve even tried doing my main edits first before adding any masks but the issue persists. Thanks for your input though

Nik BhattKeymasterI would need more information to tell you what’s going on, but there is a bug in macOS / iOS that affect Nitro with masks. Specifically, if you have the same adjustment (e.g. Curves) in the main interface AND you also brush Curves, then the system gets confused and it applies to the whole image.
To troubleshoot this, take a simple JPEG, make no edits and then apply a mask with Curves. Do you see the same problem?

ParticipantHi
Tried a few jpegs and have the same issue.
Prior to tying the jpegs I rebooted my ipad.
I used curves on a linear gradient mask and then tried to alter the levels adjustment in the main interface, the images went too bright.
The strange thing is I have a few RW2 files that have linear gradient masks plus curves adjustments applied in the normal way and they are fine. I’ve just tweaked the settings of one of these photos and it behaved normally.
Would a reinstall of the software help?
Thanks
Michael

ParticipantJust tested on macOS and also got that result. Turning off the raw standard processing has no effect.
It happens even if just a minimum of curves is applied.

Nik BhattKeymasterSo, the problem turned out to be a known issue. There is a bug in macOS / iOS when an adjustment is present in both a mask and globally. Apple has given me a few ideas for ways to work around the bug, which I have not had a chance to look into, but I will.
