I appreciate the enormous effort being expended on the Nitro Photo app by its talented and productive developer, Nik Bhatt. However the tools and approach to photo adjustments sometimes seem odd to me, which oddity I lay at the feet of Apple’s raw demosaic engine. Making use of the large amount of valuable and useful information in the Nitro user guide, tutorial videos, and this forum, I often get good results with raw photos that need only global adjustments. (I shoot FUJIFILM X-T4 and X-T5 cameras.)
I find the local adjustments still a little weak at this point in their development (or maybe it is just my understanding of them that is weak?) Probably related to that is my difficulty sometimes correcting skin tones. I’m not looking for (AI) masking the way Adobe does it. I prefer tools like control points and control lines and edge-aware brushes, which is similar to how the DxO PhotoLab app (my current raw processor of choice) does things.
I am happy to maintain an annual subscription to the Nitro Photo app so that I can keep an eye on the development of this fascinating and promising software!
