    Hi Nik,

We previously discussed this via email so pasting your reply here for reference:

Regarding your other question [being able to filter by exif data such as camera, lens, iso, shutter speed, etc] – this is one of my great frustrations with Apple. Photos itself has access to a ton of data, like EXIF, and can search on it. However, they do not provide that data to 3rd party apps. I would have to open each image and index it myself. That might be okay, except that every image in the cloud would also have to be downloaded, which is a bad idea.

I was thinking about this and it occurred to me that for those of us who choose to “Download Originals” to our macs, this might be an easier problem to solve?

Since all my originals are downloaded, I’d be happy for Nitro to run in the background to open each image, index the exif, and store this for later.

I thought to throw this idea out to see if it is possible and something you might consider?

    Thanks

Unfortunately the app doesn’t know if you have set that (or for that matter if the originals have all been downloaded – you could set that and then it could take hours or days for them to appear). I am uncomfortable with the app having a feature that only works for some people sometimes. Here is another example. You search for exif and save a smart album. That album syncs over iCloud and on your iPad the results are different / incomplete. There may be a solution but it’s fraught with complications.

Fair enough. Let’s hope apple opens up access to this info.
