I’ve been using Photomator for a while and am looking at how I could move to nitro.

I’m stuck on one thing. I took two raw shots on my OM1 (.ORF files). I imported them into my iCloud Photos a while back.

I edited both raws in Photomator. I then view them in nitro.

I went to edit one of the them in nitro and I got a yellow warning triangle saying the file had been edited externally and did I was currently editing a jpeg version (or something like that). It asked if I wanted to reset the image and edit the raw. I said yes and now I can edit the raw (ie I have the raw tuning controls).

On the second raw, none of this happens. It seems to just be directly editing the jpeg and is not warning me like the first image. The info panel shows it is a raw file, but I can’t see the raw tuning panel.

Not sure what is going on here?

It’s hard to say right off the top. However, is it possible that the second image is not actually a RAW?

Nitro uses the file extension to determine if it’s a RAW for the metadata display (because it’s fast), but when editing it actually reads the file and determines what operations are allowed.

One way to tell is to check the file size of the image – if it’s noticeably smaller than the other OM1 file that is definitely a RAW, then that’s the issue.

I couldn’t reproduce it with other images.

What I did do was go into photomator, reset the adjustments and also reset the crop. All of a sudden back in nitro it now recognised it as a raw file.

Not sure why one raw was flagged and allowed a reset in nitro, but the other was not. Both raws were taken on the same camera on the same day, both cropped and adjusted in photomator.
