I have no doubt missed a setting somewhere, but, when I attempt to add a folder containing photos I want to edit in Nitro, I cannot see/find/locate anything on the NAS. I do not even see the NAS showing in the Finder window that opens in Nitro. Advice would be much appreciated!

Side Note: Would really like to get this to work. Photos is overly concerned that I might lose a photo(s) somewhere, so deletion is next to, if not actually impossible. This is really true when one wants to start out all over again, and if you have tried to use iCloud in the process. What I am trying to do is to totally NOT use iCloud for photos, but, do have several devices that I want to use. TIA

OK, sorry, found the mistake. It’s the setting in the Sidebar that I missed. I’m hoping this works. However, how do you access a NAS from an iPad mini 6? Does not seem to do that, so another setting somewhere I suppose. TIA and sorry about that.

Some NAS are not compatible with Nitro on iOS. For example, UGreen doesn’t work. However, Synology works, as does something as basic as a Raspberry Pi. Unfortunately, I don’t know why UGreen and others don’t work. I have talked to UGreen. I have talked to Apple’s engineers. No one seems to know. The reason it doesn’t work is because Nitro reads entire folders, not individual files, and the NAS are not able to provide a list of files. On Mac, this is not an issue – it’s the way the iOS works.

There may be a way for you to configure the NAS to work, since we have examples that do work, but since I don’t know why it doesn’t work for UGreen and others, I don’t know what to tell you 🙁

We have a Synology RAID setup. I have my iMac MiniM6 and MacBook Air both using the same 6 GB folder of photos right now. The iMac MiniM6 is hooked up by Ethernet, the MacBook Air by WiFi. It does take a bit to load the contents of one of the 10 folders of photos up so that one can edit them. I understand that. Once the library is aboard, things go pretty well on both machines. the iMac MiniM6 is brand new and a M6, 24GB RAM, the MacBook Air is an M4, also with 24GB. Both are running latest version of Golden Gate. Both are fast! So, no complaint here now.

I have run into two problems. If you check the box for Auto advance in Ratings, it doesn’t work on either machine. Tried several times. So, wondering if that is a bug.

Will attempt to figure out how to get photos on NAS to work with my two iOS devices, iPhone 16e and iPad mini 6. Will post any progress.
May put Acorn 8 on to do the “messing around” things like text, boxes, graphics, maybe a layer on a photo. Gus Mueller is like you, an independent guy who answers questions from folks right away. I really appreciate both of you!
    Thanks!

After figuring out how to get the Shared network drive hooked up to iPhone 16e and iPad mini 6, Nitro is good to go on all devices! Edits done on one device will show on a different device, just as advertised. One thing I will have to do is cull photos before putting them in a folder on the NAS. No point in wasting time on a photo I’ll never edit!
