    It seems that when I select a Smart Folder/filter it takes many seconds to display.

    It really depends on the query and the size of the library (and the computer, of course). Some queries are expensive and others are cheap. If you want to provide more information: query, size of library, type of computer then I might be able to tell you if it’s expected performance or not.
