Nik BhattKeymasterI’m starting a new topic for RAW 9, which is part of the OS 27 releases. I have already spent some time with it, so I am here to answer your questions. Post away!

ParticipantHello Nik ! So Apple DOES change your plans in this WWDC ?
Has I understand the raw engine will be updated with denoising during the demosaicing process. ( ala Dxo ´s one)
First question : where is the list of supported cameras ?
First bis : in case of non supported cameras do you have any possibility to extend the comptatibility with RawBridge ?
Second : any possibilities of fine tuning on your side ? If yes what are the types of control ?
Third : any thoughts concerning the monochrom raws ?
Last one : is it good ? ( comparing to Dxo’s )June 12, 2026 at 11:05 pm #148407Greg Parrau
ParticipantAnd congratulations to you for being cited by Apple in the video presenting Apple raw 9 !!

Nik BhattKeymasterThanks!
First bis : in case of non supported cameras do you have any possibility to extend the comptatibility with RawBridge ?
I don’t know yet – I’m sure I can add new cameras, and I think we will get some of the improvements. Still needs investigation, but I’m hopeful.
Second : any possibilities of fine tuning on your side ? If yes what are the types of control ?
Most of the tuning controls are still available.
Third : any thoughts concerning the monochrom raws ?
No idea at all.
Last one : is it good ? ( comparing to Dxo’s )
No idea how it compares to DxO. I do see noticeable improvements in noise reduction with some high ISO Canon RAWs that I have.

ParticipantThanks for the list of supported cameras. I just looked at a 16,000 ISO image from a Leica M11, and the noise reduction on Mac OS 27 hasn’t improved. Now I know why. 🙂
I don’t have a supported camera, so will have to wait. I ran the same 16k image through LR’s AI noise, and it’s a pretty high bar for RAW 9 to beat.
Here’s a 100% crop if you’re interested. From left to right, Mac OS 27, Nitro, LR.

Nik BhattKeymasterThe site doesn’t allow uploading images or videos. Both to manage storage and avoid hacks.
