I hadn’t yet adjusted levels on this image, but as I approached it, I noticed that toggling the bypass button, even though the parameters were at zero default, yielded a different levels affected image when on but no edits yet made.

User error somewhere or? Another weird thing with levels that I can’t find an explanation for in the available documentation, is that sometimes the handles on the them suddenly work in reverse, so dragging the lower handle on the right to the left, which should increase the upper levels, starts decreasing the upper level. It happens fairly often MBP M1 Pro, Nitro version 2025.02.

    Thanks.

Sounds like a bug with Levels – I’ve made a note. I have not seen an issue with the handles working in reverse – so if you can email me at support@gentlemencoders.com, we can work through it.

I saw this once, about 3 beta releases back. I had been bouncing between libraries, importing RAW images from my canon camera, and fixing timestamps (travel issues:) in Photos.

I reloaded the image with screen capture running, and it worked properly. I could never reproduce again. You might be chasing a tough one.

Re: the levels handles moving backward: there is a bug with Levels that is fixed in the 2024.4 release (which is scheduled for release in early June 2025)
