I open a folder where I have added color tags to a number of images in a shared folder using the Mac interface via the Nitro iPad app

Tags added from Mac is visible from the iPad grid view, but…
I can see no obvious way to add/modify the tags from within the iPad interface
There are no option to filter the images based on the tagging

Is full support for color tagging missing on the IOS platform? If that is the case, will it be added to the Nitro roadmap or is this due to Apple constraints?

Tags work on the Mac, because 3rd party developers like me have figured out where Apple hides the tagging file (the mapping from color to text). However, on iOS, we do not have that information. So, the app can show tags, but it cannot set them (because it doesn’t know what the entire list is). It could have its own list, but that could be incompatible with the Files.app’s list.

    Thanks, interesting
Based on the lack of official Apple support for color tags with third party apps, would it be s good idea to avoid to be dependent on this functionality?

It is a bit risky, since there is no approved way from Apple to tag files in this manner. On the Mac, Apple has moved the file (and the format of the data) repeatedly which has been a huge hassle for us as 3rd party developers. There is always the chance they will lock it down somewhere we cannot access but hopefully not.
