    In addition to the current options for export from Nitro to Photos ie the creation of a new file or export of the original file plus metadata, I would like to se a third option:
    – Metadata only plus file reference

    Used with referenced files, Photos could be used as a way to improve the available organizing options in Nitro without any file duplication or added functionality penalty (by default we also get two separate “virtual copies” one in each Nitro window, as an extra bonus)

    Unfortunately, this is one of the many things that Apple does not permit for App Store apps. When apps add images to the library, they are always imported as managed (that is, copied into the library). And since Photos has such weak file management, there is no way for you as the user to make them referenced files.

    If this is the case I also assume that Apple prohibits the workaround to initiate a photos import from an external app as well…

    Apps can add images etc to library. No interface appears. The images are always copied.
